
Three from Jamestown Honored as 2025 "Faces of Manufacturing"

The Faces of Manufacturing initiative, led jointly by the Greater North Dakota Chamber (GNDC) and Impact Dakota, celebrates the people who power the state’s manufacturing sector. This dynamic campaign recognizes individuals from diverse roles across North Dakota, with honorees showcased in weekly profiles beginning each August, culminating with a luncheon event in October.
Jacob Roberts has quickly made his mark in manufacturing with just two years in the field. A graduate of NDSCS in Precision Machining, he earned national recognition with a silver medal in CNC machining at SkillsUSA. At MidMach, he’s taken on a lead machinist role and embraced a wide range of skills, from robotic welding to precision inspection, all while supporting lean manufacturing. Jacob is also a certified volunteer firefighter, showing his strong commitment to both his craft and his community.

Chris Rathjen has spent 28 years in manufacturing, growing from an entry-level accounting role to Chief Operations Officer at Newman Signs. Her dedication, leadership, and commitment to both the company and its people have been instrumental in its success. Chris finds meaning in creating products that promote public safety, like traffic signs, and takes pride in the teamwork and craftsmanship behind every finished piece. Her passion for problem-solving and continuous improvement reflects the heart of manufacturing.

Kari Butterfield has spent 23 years in manufacturing, making a lasting impact at Cavendish Farms in Jamestown. Known for her leadership and innovation, she’s driven efficiency projects that have saved the company over $1 million and significantly improved training, retention, and productivity. Kari is not only focused on the bottom line, her ergonomic and workforce-centered improvements have greatly benefited frontline employees. She values the sense of purpose, progress, and teamwork that manufacturing offers and brings the same dedication to her community through years of church volunteer work.
