JMS Aviation Park Takes Off With Approval of First Tenant
In July, the Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corporation (JSDC) Board of Directors approved a new, 25-year lease on five acres of land within its JMS Aviation Park. If approved by the City of Jamestown and the Stutsman County Commission, the project would signal the arrival of the park’s first tenant.
“This is a major milestone for the development of the JMS Aviation Park as well as our regional economic growth,” said JSDC CEO Corry Shevlin. “It also reinforces our commitment to supporting, sustaining, and growing businesses in the area.”
First CLAAS
The park’s debut tenant, CLAAS, is an award-winning, German-based agricultural equipment manufacturer with a rich history that spans over 100 years. To this day, it remains a family-based business.
Since 1913, CLAAS has become renowned for its innovative patents and designs for a wide swath of products. Their reputation was solidified with the introduction of a knotter device in 1921, which went on to become a bestseller and flagship product for the company.
In the 1950s, they exported their first machines across the Atlantic, debuting them in the United States. In the early 1980s, CLAAS established its own marketing and sales company in Columbus, Indiana, went on to merge with Caterpillar in 1997, and opened a combine harvester plant in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1999. Along the way, their forward-thinking designs have included state-of-the-art and high-tech farming equipment such as combines, tractors, drum mowers, cutterbars, and balers.
Now a global operation, the company set its sights on Stutsman County by requesting a 25-year lease to occupy five acres of land for the construction of a warehouse and service facility in JMS Aviation Park. The building, which is scheduled to be approximately 11,000 square feet, would include office space, employee amenities, and shop bays. It would also serve as their regional hub, replacing their temporary quarters located in Buffalo, North Dakota.

Room to Grow
Catering to a wide variety of industries and businesses, the new industrial park is located adjacent to the Jamestown Regional Airport. The remaining 31 shovel-ready sites range in size from one to thirty acres and include ready-to-go utilities, including:
- Natural Gas: Montana-Dakota Utilities
- Electrical Service: Otter Tail Power Company
- Water & Sewer: City of Jamestown
- Phone, Cable, & Internet
Located minutes from the downtown area, the park also boasts easy access to 34th Street SE, Highway 20, and Interstate 94, the major east-west corridor connecting the Great Lakes to the northern Great Plains. It’s also ideally situated between Fargo and Bismarck, making it an attractive, logistical option for a wide variety of businesses.
