Jamestown: Hometown 2.0 — Nick Klawon, Manager at Newman Print

For Nick Klawon, Jamestown started as a place to play football. Today, it’s where he’s built a career, raised a family, and found a strong sense of community.

Originally from Larimore, North Dakota, Nick moved to Jamestown in 2009 after receiving a scholarship to play football at the University of Jamestown. What began as a college opportunity quickly turned into something more permanent.

After graduating, Nick jumped into the workforce by managing a gym and running his own personal training business. Around the time the COVID-19 pandemic began, he transitioned into a new opportunity at Newman Signs. Today, he serves as Manager at Newman Print, where his role has allowed him to build connections across the community and develop lasting relationships.

While Nick doesn’t point to one single career milestone, he says the most meaningful part of his journey has been the people. Through his work and volunteer efforts, he’s met individuals who have become lifelong friends and connections.

A Community That Feels Like Home

For Nick, the best part of living in Jamestown is simple: the people.

“The people I have met through my job and volunteering have turned into lifelong friends,” he shared.

That sense of connection extends beyond work. Nick serves as a firefighter with the Jamestown Fire Department, giving back to the community in a hands-on and meaningful way.

When he’s not working or volunteering, Nick spends most of his time with his wife and three kids. Whether it’s visiting local parks, seeing the buffalo, or attending community events, family time is at the center of life in Jamestown.
