Behind the Projects: JSDC Staff Featured on the Ope'n Forum Podcast

    July 29, 2026

What does economic development really look like behind the scenes? That was the focus of a recent conversation on the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce's Ope'n Forum podcast, where JSDC Director of Business Development Alyssa Looysen and Operations Coordinator Jamie Czapiewski joined hosts Vincent and Warren to discuss the work happening every day to support growth in Jamestown and Stutsman County.

During the episode, Alyssa and Jamie share how economic development goes far beyond ribbon cuttings and project announcements. They discuss the partnerships, planning, and long-term commitment involved in supporting workforce development, expanding childcare opportunities, addressing housing needs, and helping local businesses invest and grow.

The conversation also explores why many community projects take months, and often years, before the public sees visible results. From working with developers and employers to navigating funding opportunities, approvals, and community partnerships, much of economic development happens behind the scenes.

In addition to discussing JSDC's work, Alyssa and Jamie reflect on why they chose to build their careers and lives in Jamestown, what people often misunderstand about the community, and why they believe there is far more happening here than the phrase "there's nothing to do" suggests. They also highlight JSDC's Jamestown: Hometown 2.0 series and the importance of sharing the stories of the people who choose to live, work, and invest in the community.

Whether you're interested in economic development, considering a move to the area, or simply curious about how community projects come together, this episode offers an inside look at the people and partnerships working to move Jamestown and Stutsman County forward.
