Jamestown: Hometown 2.0 – Shayley Salisbury , Event and Service Coordinator at JRMC
March 1, 2026
When Shayley Salisbury moved to Jamestown in February 2023, she didn’t know a single person. Today, she’s an active community leader, the Event and Service Coordinator at Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC), and a passionate advocate for getting involved.
Shayley grew up in Glyndon, MN, and came to Jamestown when her husband accepted a position coaching track and field at the University of Jamestown. While the move was rooted in opportunity, the community she found here quickly became home.
Finding Her Path at JRMC
Shayley’s career at JRMC began as the Volunteer Coordinator. In spring 2024, as her team’s event needs grew, she stepped up to take on additional responsibilities: supporting planning, setup, and logistics to help ensure successful events for the organization.
Her willingness to jump in and her commitment to teamwork led to conversations with her supervisor about reimagining a vacant position. By September 2024, Shayley officially moved into the newly developed Event and Service Coordinator role.
Building Community, One Step at a Time
Shayley says her biggest milestone since moving here has simply been getting involved. What started as an intimidating move to a town where she knew no one transformed into a deep community connection through service and leadership.
She now serves on three committees at JRMC, is part of the Young Professionals of Jamestown (YPJ) executive team, and is a United Way board member. These roles, she says, have given her a true sense of belonging.
What She Loves About Jamestown
For Shayley, the best part of living in Jamestown is easy: the people.
“I’ve met some really great people here who have a lot of passion and drive,” she says. “It’s been very cool to see.”
When it comes to local recommendations, she has a few favorites:
- Best eats: Izumi, Chopsticks, and The Corner Bar
- Best hidden gem experience: A class at The Arts Center, especially now with their recent renovations
Outside of work, you’ll likely find Shayley reading, baking, or spending time with her husband and their two dogs.
Advice for Young Professionals
Her biggest advice for anyone considering a move to Jamestown?
Get involved.
“There are a lot of great community groups here,” she says. “Getting involved in one or two can really help you meet some great people.”
And as for why someone should start their career here rather than in a larger city, Shayley believes the opportunities in Jamestown stand out.
“If I started my career anywhere else, I don’t think I would have had the opportunities I have today. In a bigger city, I probably wouldn’t have pushed myself to get involved as much — and I definitely wouldn’t have had the same chance to grow.”
