FARGO, N.D. – A team from the North Dakota Department of Commerce joined the North Dakota Trade Office and the U.S. Commercial Service during the Access Asia program in Fargo this week. Access Asia is a targeted outreach program led by the U.S. Department of Commerce which focuses on priority sectors and opportunities in the key trade deficit Asian countries of China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and India.
The program included commercial officers from all areas of Asia who joined North Dakota ethanol, oil and gas producers and marketers in informational sessions and one-on-one meetings. The North Dakota Petroleum Council and the North Dakota Ethanol Council also participated in the event.
“Programs like Access Asia help introduce North Dakota energy producers to US government representatives who are on the ground and ready to help in key markets,” Heather Ranck, Office Director and International Trade Specialist at U.S. Commercial Service said. “Our mission is to prepare U.S. companies to succeed in international markets and meetings such as this can lay the groundwork for key relationships that will eventually turn into sales.”
