Library construction bid process to include tour
April 2, 2018
The bidding process for renovating Alfred Dickey Library will include a contractor tour, according to the James River Valley Library System Board of Directors during its meeting.
Contractors will take part in a walk-through, said Joe Rector, library director. The tour is a firsthand look at exterior and interior projects.
JLG Architects reviewed bids and made recommendations at the March 19 Library Board meeting. The board made a decision on the contractor at the meeting with a representative from the U.S. Department of Agriculture present as well, Rector said.
The first phase of the $550,000 Centennial Initiative was to replace the roof in 2017 and then repair the building's foundation in 2018, Rector said. Once the exterior work is completed the indoor work will include Tio tile, carpet, paint, lighting, artwork and shelving that is approximate to the original woodwork, he said.
