    GENERAL PURPOSE

    Assists in the planning and direction of business recruitment, development, retention, and implementation of business and economic development strategies for the improvement of the Jamestown/Stutsman County business community.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED

    Works under the supervision of the CEO

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Serves as a business liaison with businesses and related outside agencies. Evaluates market research and adjusts marketing logistics to meet changing marketing concepts, and provide feedback for future marketing development.

    Provides site tours as needed for new and expanding Jamestown/Stutsman County Businesses.
    Responds to RFP's, RFI's, and other inquiries as needed for new and expanding businesses
    Collaborates with outside agencies for business recruitment and expansion initiatives.

    Assists in the Planning and organization of public information materials on city and county business environment and programs for radio, television, and printed, and electronic media and presents lectures to interested groups to increase public awareness of business opportunities in the city.

    Recruit business owners interested in opening a business in the city and directs them to resources to assist in the development of new or existing business.

    Manage Strategic Planning Committees

    Manages databases associated with grant information, job creation, public, and private investment.

    Under the direction of the CEO, Serves as a Project Manager for Financial Incentive Programs, as required

    Assists the CEO in the implementation of new economic development initiatives, as required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Experience:

    (A) Four-year college degree in Business Management; or related degree

    (B) At least two years of experience in economic development
    (C) Equivalent combination of related education and experience.


     

    Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    (A) Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written and express ideas, both orally and in writing.
    (B) Ability to effectively interact with the media and to handle publicity and community relations.
    (C) Knowledge and ability to organize large events and gatherings.
    (D) Ability to effectively generate reports and record minutes of meetings for distribution.
    (E) Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
    (F) Ability to establish and maintain close effective working relationships with public officials, employees and general public.
    (G) Ability to efficiently respond to questions from members of the community; communicate effectively in both written and oral form.
    (H) Strong ability to multi-task
    (I) Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, to achieve the goals of the organization.
    (J) Must be able to be innovative to develop new and unique ways to create new business opportunities for the City of Jamestown/Stutsman County.
    (K) Must have effective leadership skills to positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest for businesses and the City of Jamestown/Stutsman County.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    Valid State Driver's license or ability to obtain one.

    TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

    Requires intensive daily use of personal computer and telephone.

    COMPENSATION

    $60,000-80,000 Annual salary, dependent on experience. Competitive Benefits.
