Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) -- Reconstruction of the downtown Jamestown parking lots is slated to begin Tuesday (Jul 27, 2010), weather permitting.
The project starts with parking lots between Second Avenue West and First Avenue. On both sides of the railroad tracks.
Signs will direct those normally using the lots, to use alternate parking, during the time of construction.
Work will be completed on those lots before starting reconstruction of the parking lots between Second Avenue East and First Avenue, later this year.
Border States Paving, is the contractor for the work.
The parking lot spaces will be wider, and the lots will expand toward the railroad tracks, with an easement agreement between the City of Jamestown and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway. The lots will have a decorative fence adjacent to the railroad tracks, and decorative lighting, such as is along First Avenue South.
The lots are being refurbished with entrances and exits in line with changes in traffic flow downtown when the railroad Quiet Zone becomes effective.
The railroad crossings will be altered, and the crossing at Third Avenue Northwest will be closed to traffic, when the Quiet Zone and associated traffic modifications are implemented.
