Training center aids area residents »

When the Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corp. Board added a training center project to its strategic plan, little did its organizers know the direction it would take or the success the project would have.

Commission considers road tax proposal »

The Stutsman County Commission briefly discussed the possibility of placing the road tax measure that failed in the June primary election back on the ballot in November during its regular meeting Tuesday.

"The road measure went down by 299 votes," said Dale Marks, county commissioner. "We still need the funding and people are telling us that we need to keep bringing it up."

Jamestown business helps with oil cleanup »

As oil flows onto the Grand Isle, La. beach and into Louisiana marshes, men and machines work to clean it up. Among them is local businessman Mike McPherson, co-owner of Cherrington Beach Cleaners.

     

JSDC waives requirement  »

The Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corp. Board approved waiving the benchmark requirement on its job incentive grants until Dec. 31, as most local manufacturing businesses are not meeting job numbers due to a shaky economy.

As part of their agreement to receive JSDC funding, each business had employment benchmarks to meet. The agreement included a clawback, or requirement, that if the business didn’t hire a specified number of employees by a certain date, the grant would become a loan and the JSDC would have to be paid back.
