Sales tax funds: Council approves taking 50 percent »

The City Council voted 3-1 Monday to enact the amended ordinance taking half of the 1 percent sales tax for the city’s share of special assessments and extending the tax to Dec. 31, 2018.

Jamestown’s taxable sales and purchases increased »

Taxable sales and purchases for the fourth quarter of 2009 increased in North Dakota when compared to 2007 which continues with the trend toward economic growth, said Cory Fong, North Dakota tax commissioner.

High energy and commodity prices in 2008 created a banner year for taxable sales and purchases, he said.



GRE continues moving forward on biorefinery

Great River Energy presented its plans to develop the country’s first biorefinery near Spiritwood at the Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corp. Board meeting Monday.

Greg Ridderbusch, GRE’s vice president of business development and strategy, and Sandra Broekema, GRE’s manager of business development, explained the steps the company’s taking. A Danish company, Inbicon A/S, has developed the technology to manufacture cellulosic ethanol, Broekema said. It has a demonstration plant making ethanol from wheat straw in Kalundborg, Denmark. more »
