JSDC objects to council taking money, plans petition drive »

The Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corp. Board Monday was unanimous in its objection to the City Council’s decision to take half of the 1 percent sales tax previously dedicated to economic development.

Building permits totaling $4 million worth of construction projects occurred in January alone in Jamestown and Building Official Jim Weight figures he’ll see 10 times that amount by the end of March.

Council approves PACE buy down for Custom Contracting LLC »

The City Council voted 4-1 Monday to approve a $16,000 funding request on a Flex PACE Interest Buy Down for Custom Contracting LLC.

Mayor Clarice Liechty took the item off the consent agenda for the council to reconsider. She said she wanted a separate vote on it.



About 420 construction workers are building inside and out on Great River Energy’s Spiritwood Station in a race to meet the Oct. 1 online date for the power plant.

And for the second winter, snow and cold weather hamper the work on the coal-fired power and heat plant near Spiritwood. Dennis Pozarnsky, GRE construction site manager, said within about 10 days, the number of workers will climb to more than 500 as temperatures begin to warm. more »
